Wat RatchanatdaramLocated on Mahachai Road, the temple was built in the reign of King Rama III in 1846 to honor his niece, Princess Sommanat Watanawadi. . Loha Prasat, the temple’s main attraction, a type of Buddhist monastery, standing 36 metres high with 37 surrounding spires. Loha Prasat (Metal Palace) is the only Ceylonese inspired temple left in the world. Next to the temple is the area for welcoming an important foreign guest to the country, and a memorial statue of King Rama III.

After the demolition of Chalerm Thai Theatre which has put the temple into the shadow for about half a century, the magnificent Wat Ratchanatdaram stands again in full view and sheds luster on the city of Bangkok as in olden times.
